The NFSD is currently supporting the diving activity associated with an emergency expedition to assess the present health status of the reefs of the Chagos Archipelago, The expedition's plan is to gather vital research with the aim of documenting the ability of coral reefs to respond to sea-level rise, sea-surface temperature increases, and changing coral reef health. These three indicators have recently been highlighted as areas of concern for the immediate future of the Chagos Archipelago.
