Gain Access

The Facility is open to any organisation conducting research that would be undertaken under the Scientific and Archaeological Approved Code of Practice under the 1997 Diving at Work Regulations. In addition, small boat training is provided to organisations conducting scientific research. Applicants can apply for support for some or all of the following:

  • Training courses.
  • Diving support (to include the provision of a whole diving team if required).
  • Project management.
  • Equipment loans.

In order to gain support applicants must complete the application form. There are, at present, no deadlines for applications but it is recommended that submission is made at least 8 weeks prior to the proposed date for support or training. Support is based on scientific merit and so the scientific objectives and expected outcomes of the project or projects that may ultimately benefit from the support of the facility must be clearly identified. Applicants are strongly advised to contact the Facility prior to submitting a proposal in order to determine the feasibility of support. Initial contact should be made to Dr Martin Sayer
