Facilities

The National Facility has waterside aspect with immediate access to the water via its own slipway and pontoon.

The Facility houses:

• An NHS-registered emergency hyperbaric unit
• An HSE accredited diving school
• An RYA accredited small boat school
• The NERC Scientific Diving equipment pool

The Facility maintains equipment to support:

• Open circuit SCUBA air diving
• Open and semi-closed mixed gas
• SCUBA diving
• Full Face Mask through water and hard wire voice communications
• Small boat pool (2 RhiBs and 1 Dory)
• Video and still photography (digital and analog)

Divers undergoing training at the facility have full access to:

• Small boats (RHiBs)
• Hard boat (Seol Mara)
• A classroom with powerpoint projector,overhead projector and video
• Changing rooms with drying cabinet, lockers and showers

THE FUTURE

Plans are well advanced for a new £3 million diving and recompression facility that is purpose-built to support teaching and scientific diving operations.
